Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (Tier I)
- You must hold an administrative position to apply
- Courses meet California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) standards
- You may be eligible for an administrative internship if you’ve been recommended for an administrative appointment in a district
- You must have worked in a position requiring a preliminary teacher or service credential for three years prior to receiving the certificate of eligibility for the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential
You’ll take between 12 and 27 units, depending on any transferable units.

Professional Administrative Services Credential (Tier II)
As a current school administrator, further develop your professional skills and competencies.
- Program begins in September, with an optional February start
- You must have worked in a position requiring a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (Tier I) for two years and also hold an administrative position at the time you’re recommended for this Tier II program
- Three study options allow you to address and verify mastery of the California Standards for Professional Educational Leaders (CSPEL)

Portfolio Option (4 units)
- Complete the plan development course
- Develop a portfolio verifying mastery of the CSPEL
- Complete the exit assessment course

Coursework Option (16-24 units)
- Complete the plan development course
- Satisfy the CSPEL by completing the following four courses:
- Learning and Leadership
- Communication in an Environment of Diversity
- Organizational Systems in Education
- Resource Management in Schools
- Complete the exit assessment course

Portfolio/Coursework Option (7-24 Units)
- Complete the plan development course
- Verify mastery of the CSPEL through some coursework and the development of a portfolio to address other standards
- Complete the exit assessment course
