Prepare for a career advocating for and guiding students to high academic achievement and social development.
The program provides general counseling preparation for public and private school service as well as other counseling positions outside the school setting.
Choose from three degree tracks:
- School Counseling (K-12) with PPS Credential
(48 units and 600 fieldwork hours)
- College Counseling
(48 units and 600 fieldwork hours)
- Combined School and College Counseling
(54 units and 800 fieldwork hours)
Or earn a Pupil Personnel Services Credential only (provided you already have a master’s degree).
Application Requirements
- Initiation of Certificate of Clearance
- Initiation of CBEST (for school counseling applicants)
- Passing scores on CBEST (for PPS credential candidates only)
Additional Admission Requirements
- Evidence of a negative TB test result taken in last two years
Culminating Experiences
- Personal Counseling (10 hours)
- Comprehensive Written Exam
- Master’s Project
- Exit Conference
